As AEG?s proposed stadium, which would be built in downtown Los Angeles, continues to systematically clear a long string of hurdles, the folks behind the competing project in the City of Industry continue to push their proposal forward.

As recently reported by the Whittier Daily News, a group of former NFL players, state officials, and local officials recently spoke out in favor of the City of Industry venue, which would be built by Ed Roski.? They made their case at a meeting of the Four Corners Coalition, a nonprofit group that supports projects that benefit Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in California.

?This is the perfect area and location for a stadium, because this is where the people live,? San Bernardino County Supervisor Gary Ovitt said.? ?If I had a choice between driving downtown on a Sunday and watching the game in my home, guess what?? I?m going to stay home; most people would.?

The former NFL players who appeared at the event included Marvin Smith, Reggie Berry, C.R. Roberts, Amon Arnold, Frank Rice, Ron Brown and Steve Wright.? Smith pointed to the fact that the City of Industry site permits traditional tailgating.

?I just think tailgating is a great experience, and I can?t wait to take my son to a tailgate party since I can?t play anymore,? Smith said.

Still, Roski?s proposal faces an uphill climb, even though it?s shovel-ready.? The NFL is believed to prefer the glitz of a downtown stadium.
