The nations weather

Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, March 05, 2012.

In the East, lake-effect snow showers will continue along parts of the Lower Great Lakes and Northeast snowbelt as the cold front in the Northeast advances eastward and the associated low in southeastern Canada exits. Expect chances of snow to spread into northern New England during the day throughout this progression. Meanwhile, to the south, the wave of low pressure in the Mid-Mississippi Valley will continue dropping southeastward, pushing through the Tennessee Valley and into the Mid-Atlantic on Monday. As this system progresses, generally light areas of rain and snow showers will accompany this fast moving disturbance due to limited moisture. Any snow accumulations associated with this system will be on the light side due to its fast pace nature.

In the West, a cold front will bring heavy coastal rain to parts of the Pacific Northwest and high elevation snowfall to the Cascades. Precipitation from this disturbance will spread inland into areas of the Northern Intermountain West, and the Northern Rockies with moderate snow accumulations. Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of -13 degrees at Bemidji, Minn. to a high of 90 degrees at Fullerton, Calif.
