Mexico ? Sports and Recreation | Breaking Story

Mexico Sports and Recreation

With such a varied topography, largely temperate climate and unpolluted, warm seas, it is not surprising that Mexico offers a wide variety of world-class sporting options. Many of its newer sights are, indeed, hands-on experiences with nature.

A relative newcomer to golf, the country now boasts scores of fine signature golf courses in some wonderful locations. For instance, Los Cabos has six magnificent courses along the Corridor, and Acapulco has five outstanding choices, from Revolcadero back into the heart of town. Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa and Huatulco all have golf courses.

In all the resort destinations, holiday-makers can play tennis, go horseback riding and take care of their form in state-of-the-art gyms and spas. Parasailing is immensely popular, and viewing such spectacular bays as those of Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta from the air is an unforgettable experience.

Horseback riding enthusiasts can also explore a number of areas, including the Barranca del Cobre, on horseback. the more energetic can hike or walk around several archaeological sites or in the country?s many national parks, from the volcanic areas in central Mexico to the Montebello lagoons near the southern border.

While land sports are a great lure, Mexico?s watersports are tops. Renowned for its diving, Cozumel is one of the best dive destinations. indeed, the shores all around the northeastern part of the Yucatan are excellent scuba and snorkelling territory. Competent dive schools offer facilities for certified divers or courses for the novice. Snorkelers, too, revel in the fabulous lagoons such as Xel-Ha or Chankanaab in the Yucatan. There is good diving, too, along the Pacific and in Baja California, especially around Los Cabos and La Paz. Baja is noted for its sea kayaking. the eastern shores are often shallower and calmer, providing the ideal conditions for exploring the rich marine environment and offshore islands.
